Govt, agencies ruining Pakistan: Nawaz

BAGH: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief, Nawaz Sharif, said on Tuesday that the government and intelligence agencies were collectively ruining the country.

Addressing an election rally of joint candidates from the PML-N and Jamaat-e-Islami for the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections here, Nawaz said there was corruption in every institution and even Hujaj were being looted.

“Pakistan has sunk into corruption and corruption of billions has been made in every institution of the country,” Nawaz Sharif said, adding: “I have never seen such a high level of corruption in the past”.

He said the government was not implementing the Supreme Court’s orders to write a letter to the Swiss authorities about President Asif Ali Zardari’s property there. “Money belonging to Pakistan has been stored in Swiss accounts of the president,” he added.

Nawaz said there was no terrorism during his government and even India was following Pakistan’s development programme. “I can’t understand why Musharraf toppled my government,” he added. The PML-N chief expressed his determination to arrest Musharraf one day, saying: “We know how to render sacrifices for Pakistan”.

He said the situation in Kashmir was not good and the people of Azad Kashmir were increasingly frustrated about this. Nawaz said: “We conducted six atomic explosions in response to India’s five explosions and did not bow before US pressure,” adding that no deal would be made on Pakistan’s sovereignty.

The former premier said the PML-N had supported the Muslim Conference for a long time, but failed to resolve the problems of the masses in AJK, which is why the PML-N was then launched from Azad Kashmir. “We wish that the Kashmir problem be resolved through the United Nations Security Council resolutions,” Nawaz added.

He said the people of Azad Kashmir should keep in mind when voting that corrupt elements who had destroyed Pakistan were now trying to do the same in Azad Kashmir.

“The PML-N signed the Charter of Democracy with the PPP to change the lives of the people but President Zardari did not fulfill even a single promise.” Nawaz alleged, adding that the PPP and President Zardari were working on a recipe to ruin the country.

Online adds: Addressing a gathering in Dadiyal, Nawaz Sharif said President Zardari had learnt nothing from past mistakes. “The president broke all his promises and agreements made with me and the nation in Murree and Bhurban”.

“Had I Known about President Zardari’s (true behaviour), I would not have made any agreements with him,” he said, adding that his politics were based on principles and he had never lied to the people. “Pakistan is nothing without Kashmir and Kashmir is nothing without Pakistan,” he added.
