President donates blood in national campaign


NAUDERO, June 21 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday donated blood in the nation-wide campaign, marking the 58th birth anniversary of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed. President’s daughter Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah were present on the occasion at the official residence of the President here. President’s youngest daughter Ms Aseefa Bhutto Zardari also donated the blood at the President House in Islamabad, joining thousands of workers and supporters of Pakistan Peoples Party, who are enthusiastically participating in the campaign.
The President in a message on the eve of Shaheed leader’s birth anniversary urged the party workers to donate blood. The blood collected from across the country would be distributed among the government hospitals for the needy and a large portion would be handed over to the armed forces, for those who are fighting the extremists and terrorists.
The campaign is held every year to mark the birth anniversary of the Shaheed leader who was assassinated on Dec 27, 2007, following a historic address to a large public gathering in Rawalpindi.
