Nation observed Kashmir day befittingly


The nation observed Kashmir day on Saturday across the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir to express complete solidarity with the oppressed people of held Kashmir struggling for their right of self-determination for the last six decades.

People of Pakistan have extended unstinting moral support to the Kashmir freedom movement for the liberation of held valley from the clutches of India.

The long-standing Kashmir dispute is a threat to peace and stability of this region and a cause of continued tension between the two South Asian nuclear powers.

Present government attaches great importance to early, peaceful and durable solution to the dispute, in accordance with the UN resolutions and aspirations of the people of held Kashmir.

The nation is against the unprecedented atrocities committed against the innocent Kashmiri freedom fighters in the occupied valley where more than one million Indian troops are stationed to quell the indigenous freedom movement.

All political parties including ruling coalition partners and people from various strata of society join hands to express complete solidarity and unity with their Kashmiri brethren on February 5 for their just cause.

Shops, markets and business centres remain closed on this occasion. Seminars were held to urge the peace loving nations all over the world to exert pressure on India to stop its aggressive policies and allow the Kashmiris to exercise their right of self-determination.

Co-Chairman Businessman Penal, former federation chief and Vice President SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Pakistan Chapter Iftikhar Ali Malik were the chief guest at a function held in connection with Kashmir day at zonal office of the federation in city.

The day was dawn with special prayers for the liberation of Kashmir, in all principal mosques throughout the country. Newspapers publish special editions on the occasion, whereas televisions and channels and radio centres air special programmes highlighting features of the Kashmir freedom struggle.

In Lahore, a number of processions and rallies were taken out from different areas to express solidarity with Kashmiri brethren and condemn atrocities against innocent people of the held valley.
